A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-3-353 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE OR A LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY MAY OPERATE AN ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE ALONG THE PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAYS WITHIN ITS JURISDICTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 3, Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-3-353.    Notwithstanding another provision of law, an all terrain vehicle that is designated as an emergency vehicle and that is owned by the State or a local governmental entity may be operated along the public streets and highways within its jurisdiction."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor
