A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE COACH STEVEN "SKIP" FRYE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO SPARTANBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT 3 AS AN EDUCATOR AND COACH.

Whereas, Coach Frye started the cross country program at Gettys D. Broome High School in 1984. He currently serves as the athletic director, boys' track coach, and boys' cross country coach and has coached thirty-four seasons of cross country and thirty-five seasons of track and field. As a coach, he has led his teams to success, with wins to include four track and field state championships, one cross country state championship, five track and field upper state championships, two cross country upper state championships, twenty-nine track and field region championships, and twelve cross country region championships. Most recently, the boys' track and field team won its eighteenth consecutive region championship; and

Whereas, given his many years of experience and expertise, Coach Frye was inducted into the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010. An icon in Spartanburg School District 3, he has touched the lives of many. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Coach Steven "Skip" Frye for his many years of service to Spartanburg School District 3 as an educator and coach.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Steven "Skip" Frye.
