TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR CHARLES WADE WILLIAMS, THE DIRECTOR OF THE T. ED GARRISON ARENA, UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO CLEMSON UNIVERSITY, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives has learned that Charles Wade Williams will begin a well-deserved retirement after thirty-five years of exemplary service in poultry and livestock care at Clemson University, the last twenty-six of which have been as the highly-regarded director of the T. Ed Garrison Arena; and
Whereas, a lifelong resident of Anderson County near Pendleton, Charles Williams is the son of Paul Frederick Williams and Louise L. Williams, whose family history in Anderson County traces back to before 1800; and
Whereas, he was reared on his family's farm raising beef cattle and swine, and he graduated from Pendleton High School in 1972 as salutatorian; and
Whereas, in 1976, Mr. Williams earned a bachelor's degree with honors in animal science from Clemson University, and he served as assistant director of the Anderson County Animal Shelter and rabies control from 1977 to 1982; and
Whereas, his career with Clemson University began in the Poultry Science Department where he served from 1982 to 1991; and
Whereas, since 1991, Mr. Williams has served as the director of the T. Ed Garrison Arena at Clemson University, one of the premier multi-purpose livestock facilities in the Southeast and South Carolina's only full-service, public facility designed to promote the state's billion-dollar livestock industry; and
Whereas, devoted to his community, Mr. Williams has served on the Anderson Chamber of Commerce, the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Anderson County Hospitality Committee, and on the board of directors of both the Pendleton Area YMCA and the Sandy Springs Fire Department; and
Whereas, he has served as a member of the Clemson University President Marketing Committee, Winchester Arms Collectors Association, South Carolina Volunteers' Palmetto Sharpshooters, South Carolina Quarter Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and Palmetto Paint Horse Association; and
Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Christee Locklair Williams, Mr. Williams reared two fine children, Josh and Ashley, and he is a faithful member of Lebanon Baptist Church; and
Whereas, in his well-earned retirement he will have many happy hours for enjoying his widely diverse hobbies that include antique furniture, firearms, coins, pottery, horses, genealogy, running, and sports, especially when played by Clemson University; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Charles Williams has devoted to Clemson University, and the members wish him many years of satisfaction in his well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Charles Wade Williams, the director of the T. Ed Garrison Arena, upon the occasion of his retirement after thirty-five years of outstanding service to Clemson University, and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Charles Wade Williams
