TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR LIEUTENANT THOMAS DELPERCIO FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT IN SOUTH CAROLINA, AND HIS DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE "WAR ON DRUGS" IN HORRY COUNTY.
Whereas, in 1994, Thomas Delpercio began his career in law enforcement in Sumter County with the Department of Corrections, and quickly advanced in rank; and
Whereas, he joined the Horry County Police Department in 1999, and by 2002 he had achieved the rank of detective and served as a case agent assisting with a federal investigation which resulted in fifteen federal indictments; and
Whereas, by 2006, Thomas Delprecio was promoted to sergeant and was assigned to the Horry County Narcotic/Vice Unit, where he focuses on combatting the opioid epidemic; and
Whereas, Lieutenant Delpercio serves as the chairman of the 15th Judicial Circuit Heroin Coalition, and has organized a joint training program which enabled forty-three law enforcement officers to become certified instructors in the use of narcan injections to block the effects of an opioid and reverse an overdose; and
Whereas, instrumental in implementing prescription drug drop boxes to properly dispose of unused medications, the hard work and dedication of Lieutenant Thomas Delprecio has positively impacted the community and have saved lives in Horry County; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, thank Lieutenant Delpercio for his outstanding service, congratulate him for his significant accomplishments spanning more than two decades, and wish him continued blessings and success in all of his future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Lieutenant Thomas Delpercio for his distinguished career in law enforcement in South Carolina and his dedicated service to the "War on Drugs" in Horry County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Lieutenant Thomas Delpercio.
