TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE HAMMOND SCHOOL BOYS VARSITY GOLF TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A STELLAR SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2018 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the boys varsity golf team of Hammond School won the state championship at the South Carolina Independent School Association competition held on April 23 and 24, 2018; and
Whereas, to the delight of their fans and to the honor of themselves and their school, the squad defeated fine rivals from schools across the State; and
Whereas, this victory was a successful defense of the state championship title won last year; and
Whereas, this victory follows six regional championships in the past ten years; and
Whereas, the squad accomplished this victory in trying conditions of wind and rain; and
Whereas, the Hammond Boys Varsity Golf Team consists of senior captain Chalmers Allen, Oscar Augenstein, Hal Crosswell, Andrew Kriter, Harry Mashburn, Bronson Myers (tournament medalist), Will Osburn and Blake Weinbach; and
Whereas, the team is coached by the great Fred Wadsworth, who leads the boys tirelessly; and
Whereas, Craig Augenstein, a volunteer parent assistant coach, devotes great time and care to the squad; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives value the esteem and recognition which the Hammond varsity golf team has brought to their school and their community and look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Hammond School boys varsity golf team, coaches, and school officials for a stellar season and congratulate them for winning the 2018 South Carolina Independent School Association State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Joseph Lumpkin, Head of Upper School, and Coach Wadsworth.
