TO COMMEND AND THANK THE BAPTIST HILL HIGH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION IN HOLLYWOOD FOR ITS EDUCATIONAL, RECREATIONAL, AND ATHLETIC SUPPORT OF, AND SERVICE TO, ITS MEMBERS' ALMA MATER, BAPTIST HILL HIGH SCHOOL.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn of the good work accomplished by the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association (BHHAA) in promoting excellence at Baptist Hill High School, the alma mater of its members; and
Whereas, the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association operates with the following purposes underlying all its activities: 1. to serve and promote the educational, recreational, and athletic interests of Baptist Hill High School in the Town of Hollywood; 2. to serve as an educational forum for alumni to maintain contact with the school and one another; 3. to support periodic reunions and other events for alumni and students; 4. to provide financial support to the school by carrying out fundraising and other charitable activities for the benefit of the school, its current students, and alumni; 5. to function as the official voice for alumni in communicating with the school; and 6. to provide financial support to future graduates of Baptist Hill High School; and
Whereas, formed some years ago, the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association unfortunately disbanded but was re-established in 2012; and
Whereas, the organization's present board of directors consists of Principal Vanessa Brown, Hollywood Mayor Jacquelyn S. Heyward, President Martha V. Davis, Vice President and Chaplain John A. Alston, Jr., Secretary Jestine Scott, Treasurer Beulah B. Smith, Parliamentarian and Program Committee Representative Sarah Johnson-Ferron, Membership Chair and Nominating Committee Chair Coleman Jenkins, Ways and Means Chair Blanche Bowens, and Scholarship Committee Representative Paul Johnson; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is grateful for the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association's diligent work in furthering its worthy purposes, accomplished through efforts such as t-shirt sales and its recent fundraising ball, held in Charleston at Belmond Charleston Place. The members extend sincere best wishes to BHHAA for much continued success in all its future endeavors. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and thank the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association in Hollywood for its educational, recreational, and athletic support of, and service to, its members' alma mater, Baptist Hill High School.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Baptist Hill High Alumni Association.
