WHEREAS, the Honorable Joseph J. Watson, Solicitor of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, was elected as a Circuit Court Judge by the South Carolina General Assembly on April 9, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the undersigned has received a letter of resignation from Solicitor Watson, thereby creating a vacancy in the Solicitor's Office of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit as of July 1, 1997; and
WHEREAS, the Judge residing in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit has certified the vacancy to the undersigned; and
WHEREAS, the undersigned has the authority to fill this vacancy, pursuant to S.C. Ann. Section 1-7-390 (1976).
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of South Carolina and pursuant to the Constitution and Laws of this State, it is Ordered that Robert M. Ariail be and he is hereby appointed Solicitor of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, with the usual powers as such. Mr. Ariail shall take office on July 1, 1997.
