Rep. McGARRY proposes the following Amendment No. to H. 3958 (COUNCIL\WAB\3958C002.RT.WAB22):

Reference is to Printer's Date 2/17/22-H.

Amend the bill, as and if amended, by striking all after the enacting words and inserting:

/ SECTION1. Chapter 1, Title 23 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 23-1-235.'First responder' means a:

( 1) person who is a constitutionally elected officer; a state, county or municipal employee; or any person or entity who contracts with the State, a county, or a municipality; and

(2) whose routine job responsibilities include providing an immediate emergency response to calls for assistance through an affiliation with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and rescue agencies."

SECTION2. Section 23-1-230(A)(2) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(2) the following nine ten members who represent the following associations:

(a) the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association;

(b) the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association;

(c) the South Carolina Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association;

(d) the Association of Public Communications Officials;

(e) the South Carolina Emergency Medical Services Association;

(f) the Emergency Management Association;

(g) the South Carolina Fireman's Association;

(h) the South Carolina Fire Chiefs' Association; and

(i) the Palmetto 800 Advisory Committee ; and

(j) the South Carolina Coroners Association."

SECTION3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. /
