AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 56-7-10, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO UNIFORM TRAFFIC TICKETS USED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN ARRESTS FOR TRAFFIC OFFENSES, SO AS TO ADD NONTRAFFIC OFFENSES, TO PROVIDE THAT NO OTHER TICKET MAY BE USED FOR THOSE OFFENSES, AND TO VEST TRAFFIC, RECORDERS', AND MAGISTRATES' COURTS WITH JURISDICTION IN THE CHARGES FOR WHICH THE TICKETS WERE ISSUED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Uniform traffic ticket

SECTION 1. Section 56-7-10 of the 1976 Code, as amended by Act 353 of 1980, is further amended to read:

"Section 56-7-10. There shall be a uniform traffic ticket used by all law enforcement officers in arrests for traffic offenses and for the following additional offenses:

No other ticket may be used for these offenses. The service of the uniform traffic ticket shall vest all traffic, recorders', and magistrates' courts with jurisdiction to hear and to dispose of the charge for which such ticket was issued and served. This ticket shall be designed by the Department of Highways and Public Transportation and approved by the Attorney General."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
