AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1027 OF 1970, RELATING TO
THE CREATION OF THE DUNCAN CHAPEL FIRE DISTRICT IN
GREENVILLE COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE FILLING
OF VACANCIES FOR MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF
THE DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Filling vacancies
SECTION 1. Section 4 of Act 1027 of 1970 is amended by
adding at the end:
"If there is a vacancy on the board of fire control and there are
more than one hundred eighty days until the next election, the vacancy
must be filled for that period remaining until the general election, by
appointment by the Governor, upon recommendation of the Greenville
County Legislative Delegation. At the next election, an election must be
conducted to fill the remainder of the unexpired term or for a full term, as
the case may be."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the
Governor.
