A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE THAT PURSUANT TO ARTICLE III, SECTION 21 OF
THE CONSTITUTION OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1895 AND SECTION 2-1-180 OF THE 1976 CODE,
WHEN THE RESPECTIVE HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ADJOURN ON THURSDAY, MAY
21, 1998, EACH HOUSE SHALL STAND ADJOURNED TO MEET AT 11:00 A.M. ON TUESDAY,
JUNE 2, 1998, AND TO CONTINUE IF NECESSARY UNTIL THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1998, NOT
LATER THAN 5:00 P.M., FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF SPECIFIED MATTERS; AND TO
PROVIDE THAT WHEN EACH HOUSE ADJOURNS ON THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1998, NOT LATER
THAN 5:00 P.M., THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY SHALL STAND ADJOURNED SINE DIE .

RESOLUTION
TO PROVIDE THAT PURSUANT TO ARTICLE III, SECTION 21
OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THIS STATE AND SECTION
2-1-180 OF THE 1976 CODE, WHEN THE RESPECTIVE
HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ADJOURN ON
THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1998, EACH HOUSE SHALL STAND
ADJOURNED TO MEET AT 11:00 A.M. ON TUESDAY, JUNE 2,
1998, AND TO CONTINUE IF NECESSARY UNTIL THURSDAY,
JUNE 4, 1998, NOT LATER THAN 5:00 P.M., FOR THE
CONSIDERATION OF SPECIFIED MATTERS; AND TO
PROVIDE THAT WHEN EACH HOUSE ADJOURNS ON
THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1998, NOT LATER THAN 5:00 P.M., THE
GENERAL ASSEMBLY SHALL STAND ADJOURNED SINE
DIE .
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
(A) Pursuant to the provisions of Article III, Section 21 of the
Constitution of this State and Section 2-1-180 of the 1976 Code, each
house agrees that when the Senate and House of Representatives
adjourn on Thursday, May 21, 1998, not later than 5:00 p.m., each
house shall stand adjourned to meet in statewide session, at 11:00
a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 1998, and to continue in statewide session,
if necessary, not later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 1998, for
the following matters:
(1) consideration of gubernatorial vetoes;
(2) ratification of acts;
(3) consideration and confirmation of appointments;
(4) consideration of local legislation which has the unanimous
consent of the affected delegation;
(5) receipt, consideration, and disposition of conference and free
conference reports, appointment of conference and free conference
committees and messages pertaining to such reports and
appointments;
(6) consideration of resolutions expressing sympathy or
congratulations;
(7) joint sessions of the General Assembly for the purpose of
holding judicial elections if a separate concurrent resolution for these
elections is adopted by the House of Representatives and the Senate
scheduling the elections at a specified date and time for each of the
offices to be filled; and
(8) consideration of legislation to continue appropriation
authorizations and necessary provisos of Act 155 of 1997 beyond
June 30, 1998.
(B) Each house may also provide for local session days during the
period between May 21, 1998, and June 2, 1998, for consideration of
local legislation which has the unanimous consent of the affected
delegation.
(C) When each house adjourns not later than 5:00 p.m. on
Thursday, June 4, 1998, the General Assembly shall stand adjourned
sine die.
