Whereas, these outstanding students from South Carolina's technical colleges were chosen for this honor by the technical college presidents on the basis of academic performance, leadership accomplishments, and service to their colleges and local communities with no more than two members selected from a particular college campus; and

Whereas, dedication, perseverance, and tenacity are key characteristics each member of this elite academically gifted fraternity possess; and

Whereas, their academic achievements make them worthy representatives of this State, and their accomplishments are a great source of pride not only for the individual team members and their families, but also South Carolinians as well; and

Whereas, Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year Colleges, sponsored the All-State Team competition to bring statewide recognition to outstanding technical college, community college, and junior college students; and

Whereas, these students were South Carolina's representatives in the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are honored to pause in their deliberations to add their congratulations to these outstanding South Carolina technical college students. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the twenty-four South Carolina technical college students named to South Carolina's 2006 All-State Academic Team in the All-USA Academic Team Competition for Technical Colleges, Community Colleges, and Junior Colleges sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges, and USA Today.
