A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF RETIRED CIRCUIT JUDGE JOHN GRIMBALL OF RICHLAND COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, retired Circuit Judge John Grimball of Richland County died on April 8, 1991, at the age of seventy-seven; and

Whereas, Judge Grimball was a native of Charleston, was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, was a decorated World War II hero, and served for twenty-three years on the state's circuit bench, retiring in 1983; and

Whereas, he was an outstanding jurist and was once a candidate for the South Carolina Supreme Court; and

Whereas, he commanded tremendous respect as a judge because of his knowledge, fairness, and willingness and ability to perform difficult work; and

Whereas, he will be missed greatly by the countless individuals who knew and loved him; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly want his family and many friends to know they are in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of retired Circuit Judge John Grimball of Richland County and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Judge Grimball.
