A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT
THE DEATH OF JOHN R. TURNBULL OF COLUMBIA AND
EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY
FRIENDS.
Whereas, John Robert Turnbull of Columbia died on October 30, 1991,
at the age of seventy-six; and
Whereas, Mr. Turnbull was the retired assistant director of the State
Division of General Services; and
Whereas, he also was the first director of the Sales and Use Tax Division
of the South Carolina Tax Commission and served as an assistant state
auditor in the State Auditor's Office; and
Whereas, he served on the board of directors of the South Carolina State
Employees' Association and was chosen in 1968 as the male
Outstanding State Employee; and
Whereas, he served the State of South Carolina faithfully for many years
and was very highly regarded for his excellent abilities and dedication;
and
Whereas, we want his family and many friends to know that they are in
our thoughts and have our sincerest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of John R. Turnbull of
Columbia and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
family of Mr. Turnbull, in care of his son, Robert Turnbull, Jr., of
Columbia.
