 relating to the creation of the South Carolina Guardian Ad Litem Program, so
 as to provide that the program must be administered by the State Workers'
 Compensation Fund; and to amend Section 5 of Act 441 of 1988, relating to the
 administration of this program, so as to delete the provision in which the
 administration of the program is by the University of South Carolina Trio
 Programs through a contract with the Joint Legislative Committee on Children.

A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-121, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GUARDIAN AD LITEM PROGRAM, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE PROGRAM MUST BE ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE WORKERS' COMPENSATION FUND; AND TO AMEND SECTION 5 OF ACT 441 OF 1988, RELATING TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS PROGRAM, SO AS TO DELETE THE PROVISION IN WHICH THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE PROGRAM IS BY THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA TRIO PROGRAMS THROUGH A CONTRACT WITH THE JOINT LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE ON CHILDREN.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 20-7-121 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 441 of 1988, is amended by adding at the end:

"This program must be administered by the State Workers' Compensation Fund."

SECTION 2. Section 5 of Act 441 of 1988 is amended to read:

"Section 5. The General Assembly shall provide the funds necessary to carry out the provisions of this act. Until the program has been implemented in each county as a part of the statewide system, the program must be administered by the University of South Carolina TRIO Programs through a contract with the Joint Legislative Committee on Children."

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
