AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 765 OF 1978, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE NUMBER AND LOCATION OF MAGISTRATES IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, SO AS TO DELETE A MAGISTRATE FOR EACH OF THE TOWN OF PIEDMONT AND THE GROVE TOWNSHIP, AND TO PROVIDE FOR ONE FULL-TIME MAGISTRATE FOR THE TOWN OF PIEDMONT AND THE GROVE TOWNSHIP, DESIGNATED AS THE "PIEDMONT-SOUTH GREENVILLE COUNTY MAGISTRATE'S DISTRICT".

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Magistrates, Greenville County; changed

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 765 of 1978, as last amended by Act 607 of 1980, is further amended to read:

"Section 1. The magistrates for Greenville County are as follows:

Two for the City of Greenville, four special magistrates for Greenville County, one for the Check Clearing House, and one each for Greenville Township, Bates Township, O'Neal Township, Glassy Mountain Township, Highland Township, Cleveland Township, Paris Mountain Township, Saluda Township, Gantt Township, Dunklin Township, Town of Batesville, Fork Shoals, Chick Springs Township, and the Town of Greer.

In addition to the above magistrates, there is one magistrate for the Austin Township, Butler Township, and Fairview Township, which magistrate is full time.

Further, there is one magistrate for the Town of Piedmont and the Grove Township, which magistrate is full time. The name of the magisterial district for the Town of Piedmont and the Grove Township is designated as the 'Piedmont-South Greenville County Magistrate's District'."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect December 1, 1988.
