A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 11-11-145 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTINUING AUTHORITY TO PAY THE EXPENSES OF STATE GOVERNMENT WHEN A FISCAL YEAR BEGINS WITHOUT A GENERAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT FOR THE YEAR IN EFFECT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 11, Title 11 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 11-11-145. If a state fiscal year begins with no annual general appropriations act in effect for that year, the authority to pay the expenses of state government continues at the level of amounts appropriated in the general appropriations act for the preceding fiscal year."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
