A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-67-155 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ANY SCHOOL BUS DRIVER WHO WORKED AN AVERAGE OF TWENTY-FIVE HOURS OR MORE PER WEEK DURING THE PREVIOUS SCHOOL YEAR SHALL BE CONSIDERED A PERMANENT PART-TIME EMPLOYEE (PPT) OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT DURING THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR AND AS SUCH SHALL BE ENTITLED TO THE SAME INSURANCE, LEAVE, AND RETIREMENT BENEFITS THAT OTHER PERMANENT PART-TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE STATE RECEIVE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-67-155. Any school bus driver who worked an average of twenty-five hours or more per week during the previous school year shall be considered a permanent part-time employee (PPT) of the school district during the current school year and as such shall be entitled to the same insurance, leave, and retirement benefits that other permanent part-time employees of the State receive."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
