A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 45-1-100 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A STRAW THAT IS DISTRIBUTED IN A RESTAURANT OR ANOTHER PUBLIC PLACE MUST BE COVERED IN A WRAPPER.

Amend Title To Conform

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 1, Title 45 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 45-1-100.    A straw that is distributed in a restaurant or another public place must be covered in a wrapper unless the straw is dispersed from a container designed to dispense a sterile straw individually and untouched."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
