A Bill to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section
59-67-151 so as to require the State Law Enforcement Division, with the
cooperation and assistance of the State Department of Highways and Public
Transportation, to conduct a criminal background check on every person seeking
certification or renewal of certification as a school bus driver, to deny the
privilege of serving as a school bus driver to any such person whose criminal
background check indicates convictions for certain offenses, to provide for
the determination, establishment, and payment of the cost of conducting the
criminal background check, and to provide that the requirements imposed by
this Section on persons seeking certification or renewal of certification as a
school bus driver are in addition to all other requirements, conditions, or
qualifications imposed on school bus drivers.
