A Senate Resolution to congratulate Mr. Oscar L. Kemp of Clearwater, South
Carolina, on his retirement from a lifetime of dedicated service as an
educator in our public schools, to commend him on his many contributions to
his church and the community and to wish him and his family well in his
retirement.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE MR. OSCAR L. KEMP OF CLEARWATER,
SOUTH CAROLINA, ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM A LIFETIME
OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS AN EDUCATOR IN OUR PUBLIC
SCHOOLS, TO COMMEND HIM ON HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS
TO HIS CHURCH AND THE COMMUNITY AND TO WISH HIM
AND HIS FAMILY WELL IN HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Oscar L. Kemp of Clearwater, South Carolina, is retiring from
a lifetime of dedicated service as an educator in our public schools; and
Whereas, Mr. Kemp, a native of Clearwater, received his early education
at Haines Institute in Augusta, Georgia, now Lucy Craft Laney
Comprehensive High School; and
Whereas, he graduated with a B.S. Degree in Science from Benedict
College, a Master's Degree in Education from South Carolina State
College, and has done post graduate work at the University of Wisconsin
and the Atlanta University System; and
Whereas, Mr. Kemp is held in high esteem by his colleagues in
education in many schools across the State and in the south, he has been
an instructor of science at Edgefield County Training School, Bethune
Memorial High School, and Jefferson High School and has been
Chairman of the Science Department at L.B.C. High School in Bath,
South Carolina, and at Midland Valley High School in Langley, South
Carolina; and
Whereas, Mr. Kemp is well liked and respected by the many, many
students he has taught over the years and he has shown his interest and
dedication to them in many ways, among them by coaching basketball
and serving as student council advisor and as year book advisor; and
Whereas, Mr. Kemp is also a very active member of and has made
substantial contributions to his community; among the many
organizations in which he serves are the Valley Public Service
Authority, the Augusta-North Augusta Benevolent Association, Aiken
Elks Lodge # 1684 I.B.P.O.E. of W., Simmon Lodge # 571 -
F.A.A.Y.M., White Hall Royal Arch Masons, Dozier Commandry Arch
2, Aiken, South Carolina, Fred Simon Grand Consistory, Columbia,
South Carolina, and National Supreme Council of 33rd degree Masons;
and
Whereas, he has served as the Grand Recorder of Islam Grand Temple
of A.A.O.N.M. Shriners and as the National Grand High Priest of the
National Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Free and Accepted Ancient York
Rite Masons, Prince Hall Origin, National Compact of U. S. of North
America; and
Whereas, he has been a loyal and devoted member of the Baptist Church
and has given much of his time and talent to the Old Strom Branch
Baptist Church including serving as a member of the Usher Board, a
Sunday School teacher, superintendent of Sunday School, Chairman of
the Board of Deacons, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Old Storm
Branch Child Development Center; and
Whereas, Mr. Kemp is a devoted husband and father and the proud
grandfather of Keyanda Storm. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express their sincere congratulations to
Oscar L. Kemp of Clearwater, South Carolina on his retirement from a
lifetime of dedicated service as an educator in our public schools, to
commend him for his many contributions to his church and the
community and to wish him and his family well in his retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr.
Oscar L. Kemp, Clearwater, South Carolina.
