A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
UNIVERSITY BULLDOG FOOTBALL TEAM FOR AN
OUTSTANDING 1994 SEASON AND HERITAGE BOWL
VICTORY.
Whereas, the 1994 South Carolina State University football team
captured the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship with a
10-2 win-loss record; and
Whereas, the Bulldogs culminated a remarkable season by defeating
the Southwest Athletic Conference Champion Grambling State
University by a score of 31-27 in the fourth annual Heritage Bowl;
and
Whereas, Coach Willie Jeffries, the greatest coach in Bulldog
history, has compiled an outstanding record of victories over twelve
seasons in Orangeburg; and
Whereas, the Bulldogs have established a long tradition of
competitive football which has filled the professional football ranks
with many great players; and
Whereas, the success of the 1994 Bulldog football team brought
tremendous pride and recognition upon South Carolina State
University, its alumni, and supporters, as well as upon the State of
South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to
publicly recognize and congratulate each player, member of the
staff, and each coach, and especially Head Coach Willie Jeffries,
upon the conclusion of a memorable season and Heritage Bowl
victory. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the South
Carolina State Bulldog football team, staff, and coaches headed by
Coach Willie Jeffries for a truly outstanding 1994 season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Dr. Barbara Hadden, President of South Carolina State University;
Jim Martin, Director of Athletics; and Willie Jeffries, Head Football
Coach.
