OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE ROLLY W. JACOBS OF KERSHAW
COUNTY WHO DIED SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2007, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO
HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE ROLLY W. JACOBS OF KERSHAW COUNTY WHO DIED SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2007, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, it is with great sadness that the members of the House of Representative learned of the passing of Judge Rolly W. Jacobs of Kershaw County who died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at his home in Camden; and
Whereas, born in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Eleanor Warren Jacobs and the late William Clinton Jacobs, Jr.; and
Whereas, he was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the University of South Carolina School of Law; and
Whereas, Judge Jacobs has served as a family court judge for the Fifth Circuit since 1999, served as assistant city judge for the City of Camden, as well as master-in-equity for Kershaw County; and
Whereas, attorneys and judges alike remember Rolly Jacobs for his court room demeanor and sense of compassion for those who came before his court; and
Whereas, Judge Jacobs was not only a much loved and respected jurist, but was recognized for his unselfish volunteerism demonstrated by his association with the American Red Cross, the United Way, the American Legion, and the Benign Protective Order of Elks; and
Whereas, as an active member of Lyttleton Street Methodist Church, he was a staunch supporter and extremely active in the Boy Scouts, serving as assistant scoutmaster for Troop 303 and receiving the District Award of Merit from the Indian Waters Council; and
Whereas, most people would remember Judge Jacobs for his warmth, his sense of humor, and his friendly personality; and
Whereas, Judge Jacobs will be sorely missed by all members of the bench and bar which enjoyed his camaraderie. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives wish to express their sincere sorrow upon the death of the Honorable Rolly W. Jacobs of Kershaw County who died Sunday, May 20, 2007, and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of the Honorable Rolly W. Jacobs.
