A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST PreviousWISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE HONORABLE JAMES I. DAVIS, CLERK OF COURT FOR LEE COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS SEVENTIETH BIRTHDAY.

Whereas, on May 9, 1997, The Honorable James I. Davis, Clerk of Court for Lee County, will celebrate his seventieth birthday; and

Whereas, he is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Manton Romaine Davis; and

Whereas, in June 1949 James Davis married his lovely wife, the former Olivia Turner, and together they have raised four outstanding children and have ten grandchildren; and

Whereas, he was first elected to serve as Clerk of Court for Lee County in 1980 and has served continuously in that capacity; and

Whereas, James I. Davis served with distinction in the United States Army from 1945 through 1946; and

Whereas, he serves as Chairman of the Church for St. Andrew Church of God; and

Whereas, The Honorable James I. Davis is a longtime Lee County businessman, and is well respected in his community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina join the residents of Lee County in congratulating The Honorable James I. Davis, Clerk of Court for Lee County, on the occasion of his seventieth birthday, and commend him for his many years of service to his community, the State of South Carolina, and our nation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable James I. Davis and his family.
