A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND DEEPEST GRATITUDE AND BEST PreviousWISHESNext TO MRS. CAROLYN WESTBURY BAKER OF DORCHESTER COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS HEADMASTER OF DORCHESTER ACADEMY.

Whereas, Mrs. Carolyn Westbury Baker of Dorchester County is the wife of Mr. Donald J. Baker, and together they are the proud parents of three children, Shelby B. Ferguson, Tracy B. Reeves, and Jantz Baker; and

Whereas, she received both her Bachelors of Education and Masters of Administration Degrees from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mrs. Baker distinguished herself as a third grade teacher from 1979 until 1988; and

Whereas, since July, 1988, she has served as Headmaster of Dorchester Academy; and

Whereas, during her tenure as Headmaster, the enrollment at Dorchester Academy has grown from two hundred twenty-six students to five hundred thirty-two students; buildings that house twelve classrooms, a conference room, a cafeteria, two computer laboratories, a chemistry laboratory were constructed; and in 1998, Dorchester Academy received Advanced Accreditation from the South Carolina Independent Schools' Association; and

Whereas, it is with sincere regret that the members of the General Assembly have learned that Mrs. Baker will retire as Headmaster of Dorchester Academy in June, 1999; and

Whereas, it is only fitting and proper that the members of the General Assembly pause in their deliberations to note the retirement of a great daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly extend their deepest gratitude and best Previouswishes to Mrs. Carolyn Westbury Baker on the occasion of her retirement as Headmaster of Dorchester Academy.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Carolyn Westbury Baker.

----XX----
