A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE FORTY YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED EMPLOYMENT OF MRS. FANNIE W. WATSON WITH THE LEE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, THE LAST TWENTY-THREE YEARS AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE COUNTY OFFICE, AND TO PreviousWISHNext HER GODSPEED IN HER WELL DESERVED RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Mrs. Fannie Watson has been a faithful employee and leader of the Lee County Department of Social Services for forty years; and

Whereas, she will retire from this career on June 30, 1999; and

Whereas, her dedication to her position has been an inspiration to all who have worked with her; and

Whereas, in her career with the Department of Social Services, Mrs. Watson has worked in the capacity of case worker, supervisor, and for the last twenty-three years, she has been the director of the county office; and

Whereas, the employees of the Lee County Department of Social Services will sorely miss the enthusiasm and expertise she has always brought to her work; and

Whereas, Mrs. Watson has been actively involved in community activities including serving as the president of the Lee County chapter of the State Employees' Association; under her leadership, this chapter worked closely and coordinated with the Lee County Disaster Preparedness Agency in opening shelters when a natural disaster affected the county; and

Whereas, under her direction, Lee County Department of Social Services became a member of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce and networked with all other agencies to provide improved services to all citizens of the county; and

Whereas, Mrs. Watson has gone far beyond the call of duty in so many ways and has rendered the State of South Carolina and Lee County outstanding service as a state employee; and

Whereas, Mrs. Fannie Watson is known, respected, and admired for her dedicated work and integrity, and the General Assembly is delighted to have this opportunity to publicly accord her special recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the forty years of distinguished employment of Mrs. Fannie W. Watson with the Lee County Department of Social Services, the last twenty-three years as the director of the county office, and Previouswish her Godspeed in her well deserved retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Fannie W. Watson.
