TO EXTEND BEST PreviousWISHESNext AND CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO COACH RAY STACKLEY, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AND HEAD VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH OF STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL OF BERKELEY COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF BEING HONORED FOR HIS OUTSTANDING COACHING ABILITIES IN LEADING THE STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL "KNIGHTS" FOOTBALL TEAM TO THE 1999 CLASS AAAA, DIVISION I STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were delighted to learn that Coach Ray Stackley has been honored and recognized by numerous sports affiliates following Stratford High School's 1999 football season; and

Whereas, Coach Stackley finished his fifteenth year as Athletic Director and Varsity Football Coach of Stratford High School with a perfect season of 15-0. He holds an impressive record of 137-50; and

Whereas, Coach Stackley graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1975 with a B.S. Degree in Education and earned his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from The Citadel in 1989; and

Whereas, Ray Stackley is married to the former Lane Easterwood of West Columbia. They are the loving parents of two children: Heather, age 23, a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina, and employed in Charleston; and Josh, age 17, a high school junior who was also a contributing member of this year's varsity football team and member of the varsity baseball team; and

Whereas, Coach Stackley was previously honored as Lowcountry Coach of the Year in 1985, 1989, 1991, and 1996 and Region 6-AAAA Coach of the Year in 1985, 1989, 1991, and 1996. In 1997, he was named the State AAAA Coach of the Year; and

Whereas, Coach Stackley coached in the prestigious North/South All-Star Game held in Myrtle Beach in 1996 and will be coaching in the 2000 North Carolina/South Carolina Shrine Bowl Game; and

Whereas, most recently Coach Stackley has been named South Carolina High School Sports Report's Statewide Coach of the Year; The State Newspaper AAAA Coach of the Year; North Carolina/South Carolina Coaches Corner's State Coach of the Year; All-Lowcountry Coach of the Year; and Region 6-AAAA Coach of the Year; and

Whereas, Coach Stackley's vision and competitiveness of all sports for Stratford High School has not only produced numerous winning programs, but also many athletes who are responsible and dedicated citizens in their respective communities; and

Whereas, he has gained the respect of his players, students, and fellow coaches because of his character, integrity, and willingness to make a difference in the lives of young people; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank Coach Ray Stackley for the contributions he has made to Stratford High School, Berkeley County, and the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina extend their best Previouswishes and congratulations to Coach Ray Stackley, Athletic Director and Head Varsity Football Coach of Stratford High School of Berkeley County, on the occasion of being honored for his outstanding coaching abilities in leading the Stratford High School "Knights" Football Team to the 1999 Class AAAA, Division I State Football Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Ray Stackley.
