A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO WARMLY WELCOME THE KOREAN AMERICAN CULTURAL FOUNDATION TO SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO ESPECIALLY THANK DR. LEE, YOUNG JACK, CHAIRMAN, DR. CHO, SUNG KYU, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, THE INSTITUTE FOR KOREA-U.S. CULTURAL EXCHANGE, AND ALL OF THE TALENTED PERFORMERS ACCOMPANYING THE KOREAN AMERICAN CULTURAL FOUNDATION FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR AMERICAN VETERANS OF THE KOREAN WAR BY SHARING THE TRADITIONS AND RICH CULTURE OF KOREA WITH THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, since the Korean War the Republic of Korea has maintained close ties with the United States as an ally and trading partner, and the Korean American Cultural Foundation is dedicated to fostering and improving the good relations that exist between Korea and the United States through the medium of cultural exchanges; and

Whereas, as in past years, the Korean American Cultural Foundation has come to the United States to honor American veterans of the Korean War through traditional Korean cultural music and dance performances, art displays, and displays of panels showing Korea as it was during the war and as it is now; and

Whereas, in addition to cultural performances, the Korean American Cultural Foundation will present the Korean Freedom Medallion of Gratitude to American veterans of the Korean War and to the next of kin of those who fought and were killed in action or reported missing in action as a heartfelt "Thank you" for the service and sacrifice they each made in order that the Republic of Korea could remain free; and

Whereas, the United States and the Republic of Korea are bound by blood in brotherhood, the love of freedom, and in the wishNext that North and South Korea will soon be reunited as a free country; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly want to extend a warm welcome to the Korean American Cultural Foundation on the occasion of its visit to South Carolina, to thank their leaders, dancers, musicians, artists, and staff for their hard work to honor American veterans, and to Previouswish the Foundation every success in its efforts to foster and improve the good relations that exist between the United States and the Republic of Korea. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, warmly welcome the Korean American Cultural Foundation to South Carolina and especially thank Dr.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Korean American Cultural Foundation during their visit to South Carolina.
