 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF
 OF THE LEE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM OF LEE COUNTY ON THEIR
 PHENOMENAL SEASON AND THEIR 2002 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THEM
 MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF OF THE LEE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM OF LEE COUNTY ON THEIR PHENOMENAL SEASON AND THEIR 2002 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO WISH THEM MUCH ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, the Lee Central High School Girls Basketball Team crushed Columbia High School 76-42 to win the 2002 Class AA State Championship Title Saturday, March 9, 2002; and

Whereas, the Lady Stallions finished the season with twenty-eight wins and only one loss, and the girls have won fifty-eight of their fifty-nine games in the school's history; and

Whereas, the Lee Central Lady Stallions worked hard all season in practice and during games to defend the title from last season when the Stallions defeated Hanahan High School 55-35 in the state championship game; and

Whereas, in the championship game against Columbia High School, LaTangela Atkinson led the team's scoring with twenty-nine points, Johnetta Saunders followed with thirteen, Demetress Adams scored eleven, Christina Williams had nine, and April Drakeford made seven points. Cassandra Johnson, Sierra Williams, and Faye Wells each scored two points; and

Whereas, Coach Dorothy Fortune who pushed the team toward its many victories and taught the girls different strategies to use on different teams; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognize such an outstanding and spirited team as the Lee Central High School Girls Basketball Team, the 2002 Class AA State Champions. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the players, coaches, and staff of the Lee Central High School Girls Basketball Team on their phenomenal season and their 2002 Class AA State Championship and wish them much athletic and academic success in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Lee Central High School Girls Basketball Team of Lee County.
