 OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A UNION COUNTY RANGER WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA
 FORESTRY COMMISSION, CONGRATULATE HIM ON BEING RECOGNIZED BY HIS PEERS AS
 HAVING LEFT AN ENVIABLE "FOOTPRINT" OF COOPERATION AND MUTUAL SUPPORT ON THE
 UNION COUNTY FIRE SERVICE, AND EXTEND TO HIM EVERY GOOD WISH FOR HIS FUTURE
 HEALTH AND HAPPINESS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

TO COMMEND MR. BO HAM OF UNION FOR HIS NEARLY TWENTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A UNION COUNTY RANGER WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA FORESTRY COMMISSION, CONGRATULATE HIM ON BEING RECOGNIZED BY HIS PEERS AS HAVING LEFT AN ENVIABLE "FOOTPRINT" OF COOPERATION AND MUTUAL SUPPORT ON THE UNION COUNTY FIRE SERVICE, AND EXTEND TO HIM EVERY GOOD WISH FOR HIS FUTURE HEALTH AND HAPPINESS ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Mr. Bo Ham, a Union County firefighter of renown, is known by his fellow Union County firefighters by his call number S-71 and the word "coppie" that he pronounces in a special way that cannot be imitated. Bo made "coppie" his own and it became his "signature" when communicating by radio with other firefighters; and

Whereas, after nearly twenty years of faithful service, Bo Ham recently retired as a Union County Ranger with the South Carolina Forestry Commission; and

Whereas, during his many years of fighting fires in Union County, Bo Ham enjoyed the trust and admiration of his fellow firefighters. No matter what time day or night he was called to a fire, Bo Ham was always smiling and pleasant. Mutually pledged to work together, Bo Ham and his fellow firefighters fought a lot of fires over his nearly twenty years of service. They always "hung in there and got the job done" and it was a comfort to other firefighters to know Bo Ham was always monitoring his radio and was always on the job; and

Whereas, speaking of Bo, Billy Bennett, a law enforcement officer with the Forestry Commission in Union County said, "Ham will be missed. On a large fire it was always a comfort to know we were working together.... On the larger fires we would get together and discuss tactics, what we needed to do to contain the fire, and we could always depend on Bo to do it. We saved each other's lives several times over."; and

Whereas, Bo Ham was recently honored during a Union County Firefighters Association monthly meeting at Kelly-Kelton Fire Department. Firefighters also voted to make him an honorary member of the association. "Bo Ham has left his footprint on the Union County Firefighting Service", said Roger Bailey, vice president of the association, who presented Ham with a plaque. "Coppie, that is his little word. People have tried to imitate it, but I can tell ya'll that ya'll ain't got it," said Bailey. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Bo Ham of Union for his nearly twenty years of outstanding service as a Union County Ranger with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, congratulate him on being recognized by his peers as having left an enviable "footprint" of cooperation and mutual support on the Union County Fire Service, and extend to him every good wish for his future health and happiness on the occasion of his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Bo Ham of Union.
