A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE DON DELOACH FOR HIS SERVICE AS MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF VARNVILLE FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS AND AS A MEMBER OF VARNVILLE TOWN COUNCIL FOR FOURTEEN YEARS UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS MAYOR AND TO EXTEND BEST PreviousWISHESNext TO HIM IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Don DeLoach has been serving the citizens of Varnville, South Carolina, for over thirty-two years and will be retiring in 2004 as Mayor of the Town of Varnville; and

Whereas, he served as a member of the Varnville Town Council from 1972-1985, and was first elected mayor of Varnville in 1986, and he continued to hold this office for eighteen years, retiring in 2004; and

Whereas, Mr. DeLoach also spent four years on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Association of South Carolina and served as President of the Municipal Association of South Carolina from 2001-2002; and

Whereas, Don DeLoach is widely known for his work on the Varnville Palm Tree Committee which planted palm trees along the railroad in Varnville which has become a famous part of Varnville; and

Whereas, working to obtain CDBG funds to finance small businesses in the town of Varnville, he was a driving force for the growth of Varnville, helping its citizens obtain a better quality of life; and

Whereas, seldom has a person such as Don DeLoach contributed as much to his community and county as has this outstanding dedicated public official; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly outstanding man for his contributions to Varnville for more than thirty-two years upon the occasion of his retirement this year from the office of mayor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives honor and recognize Don DeLoach for his service as Mayor of the Town of Varnville for eighteen years and as a member of Varnville Town Council for fourteen years upon his retirement as Mayor and to extend best Previouswishes to him in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. DeLoach.
