A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HONORABLE GORDON G. COOPER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS SPARTANBURG COUNTY MASTER-IN-EQUITY, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO PreviousWISHNext HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize the Honorable Gordon G. Cooper upon the occasion of his retirement as Spartanburg County master-in-equity; and

Whereas, a native of Walhalla, Judge Cooper was born in 1946. He is an alumnus of Carson-Newman College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, and the University of Tennessee Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctor; and

Whereas, a veteran of the United States Army, Judge Cooper served in military intelligence from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1971; and

Whereas, Judge Cooper began his career as an attorney in private practice in Fort Lauderdale in 1974. Over the years, he has also served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Oakland Park, Florida and as a partner in the law firm Johnson, Smith, Hibbard & Wildman. He has been admitted to practice by the Florida Bar, South Carolina Bar, United States Supreme Court, United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and United States District Court for the District of South Carolina; and

Whereas, a leader in his profession, Judge Cooper is a member of the Spartanburg County Bar Association and the American Bar Association; and

Whereas, he is married to Linda D. Cooper, and together, they have three children, Christi G. Austin, Danielle C. Stephens, and Ashley A. Cooper; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that the Honorable Gordon G. Cooper has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Honorable Gordon G. Cooper upon the occasion of his retirement as Spartanburg County master-in-equity, commend him for his many years of dedicated service to the State of South Carolina, and Previouswish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Gordon G. Cooper.
