TO DECLARE THE "GAIN MOMENTUM: BUSINESS EXPO AND SHRIMP & GRITS COOK-OFF" EVENT, HOSTED BY THE ANDERSON AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AS THE OFFICIAL STATE SHRIMP & GRITS COOK-OFF.

Whereas, the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce hosts an event called "Gain Momentum: Business Expo and Shrimp & Grits Cook-Off". Originally started as the Anderson Area Chamber's bi-annual business expo, the event expanded in 2012 to include a shrimp and grits competition. Local restaurants compete to win the title "Anderson's Best Shrimp & Grits Recipe"; and

Whereas, "Gain Momentum" exists to connect businesses with the Anderson area community, and give them an opportunity to showcase their skills and service. Participating businesses use the event to market their business to hundreds of potential new customers face-to-face, launch their new business or brand, and much more; and

Whereas, this year's event is scheduled for September 25, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson County Civic Center; and

Whereas, the event serves to carry out the mission of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce which is to "create an environment for healthy economic growth and provide superior value for its members". The Anderson Area Chamber is an organization that plays a pivotal role in building communication between business leaders who work to improve their community and the area's business climate. The Anderson Area Chamber is comprised of over 830 businesses and professional firms. It is the largest business and professional organization in Anderson County. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, declare the "Gain Momentum: Business Expo and Shrimp & Grits Cook-Off" event, hosted by the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, as the official State Shrimp & Grits Cook-Off.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce.
