AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 959 OF 1972, AS AMENDED,
RELATING TO THE CLARENDON COUNTY AREA VOCATIONAL
SCHOOL AND MANPOWER TRAINING CENTER AND ITS
GOVERNING BOARD, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE
CHAIRMAN OF THE CLARENDON COUNTY BOARD OF
EDUCATION, OR HIS DESIGNEE, ALSO SHALL SERVE AS AN EX
OFFICIO MEMBER OF THIS BOARD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Additional member of board
SECTION 1. Section 2 of Act 959 of 1972, as amended by Act
1458 of 1972, is further amended to read:
"Section 2. The board of trustees of the school shall consist
of two members each from the school boards of School Districts No. 1, 2,
and 3, to be designated by the respective boards, and in addition the three
county district superintendents of education who shall serve ex officio and
as full voting members of the board. In addition, the Chairman of the
Clarendon County Board of Education, or his designee, also shall serve
as an ex officio member of this board of trustees. One member from each
school board shall be selected to serve one year and one for two years.
The length of the terms of the initial members shall be determined by lot.
Upon the expiration of their initial terms, their successors shall be selected
for three-year terms, such terms to be coterminous with their terms on the
board which selects them. All members shall serve until their successors
are selected. The secretary of each board shall certify to the county board
of education the names of the persons selected, and a record shall be kept
in that office of such selections."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the
Governor.
