 SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES FOR STRIVING TO REACH THE FULL MEASURE OF
 THEIR TALENTS AND ABILITIES, FOR RECEIVING THE PALMETTO GOLD AWARD, AND FOR
 PARTICIPATING IN THE AWARD WINNING CONNECTING ARTS THROUGH SERVICE PROGRAM.

RECOGNIZING THE STUDENTS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS AND HUMANITIES FOR STRIVING TO REACH THE FULL MEASURE OF THEIR TALENTS AND ABILITIES, FOR RECEIVING THE PALMETTO GOLD AWARD, AND FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE AWARD WINNING CONNECTING ARTS THROUGH SERVICE PROGRAM.

Whereas, the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is the nation's first accredited fine arts high school; and

Whereas, the school provides pre-professional training in the literary, visual, and performing arts, as well as rigorous academic programs and humanities studies for South Carolina's artistically talented students; and

Whereas, programs at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities are designed to stimulate the creative process by encouraging collaborative learning and instruction to develop individual and group talents; and

Whereas, the Governor's School was recently honored with the Palmetto Gold Award for reaching high standards of academic excellence. The school has received the Palmetto Gold Award each of the four years of the program's existence; and

Whereas, training at the Governor's School expands the educational and artistic horizons of these gifted and talented high school students as they push their skills to new heights; and

Whereas, the Connecting Arts Through Service learning program was recognized by State Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum's for a service-learning award. The student volunteer program was one of seven award-winners noted for their exceptional service and commitment to strengthening their respective communities; and

Whereas, students and alumni from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities enrich the surrounding community, and the entire State, by sharing their creativity and talents. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize the administration, faculty, and students of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities for striving to reach the full measure of their talents and abilities, for receiving the Palmetto Gold Award, and for participating in the award-winning Connecting Arts Through Service Program.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the administration, faculty, and students of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.
