A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY'S BROOKS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING PreviousARTSNext ON THE OCCASION OF ITS TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY.

Whereas, the Robert Howell Brooks Center for the Performing PreviousArtsNext opened in January 1994 and was dedicated in April of 1994, launching a new and exciting phase in Clemson University's dedication to the performing PreviousartsNext; and

Whereas, the Brooks Center was the result of almost two decades of petitioning, strategic planning, fundraising, and construction; and

Whereas, the 87,000 square foot facility opened with Bruce Cook as its director and Chip Egan as the chair of the Department of Performing PreviousArtsNext. The Brooks Center's current director is Lillian Harder and the current chair of the Department of Performing PreviousArtsNext is David Hartmann; and

Whereas, the performing PreviousartsNext at Clemson University can be traced to the early part of the century; and

Whereas, the establishment of the Brooks Center was a clear sign that Clemson University recognized the essential role of the PreviousartsNext in a great university community; and

Whereas, the mission of the Brooks Center is to present outstanding PreviousartistsNext and attractions, to encourage new PreviousartistsNext and experimental works, to develop and educate diversified audiences to the performing PreviousartsNext, and to support the educational mission of the Clemson University Department of Performing PreviousArtsNext; and

Whereas, the Brooks Center was the birthplace of Clemson's production studies in the performing PreviousartsNext major, the only one of its kind in America; and

Whereas, the Brooks Center celebrated its twentieth anniversary on February 6, 2014 with appearances from past and present performing PreviousartsNext students. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate recognize and congratulate Clemson University's Brooks Center for the Performing PreviousArts on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Lillian Harder and David Hartmann.
