A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 50-11-515, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE USE OF WILD TURKEY FEATHERS IN PreviousARTNext, SO AS TO ALLOW FOR THE USE OF WILD TURKEY PARTS, TO ESTABLISH A LABEL REQUIREMENT, TO PROVIDE THAT THIS PROVISION DOES NOT AUTHORIZE THE SALE OF WILD TURKEY MEAT AND TO DELETE PROVISIONS PROHIBITING THE SALE OF PARTS OF WILD TURKEYS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 50-11-515 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 50-11-515.    (A)    An American Indian PreviousartistNext, who is a member of a tribe recognized by: (1) Public Law 101-644, the Indian PreviousArtsNext and Crafts Board Act, and (2) the state's Commission on Minority Affairs pursuant to Section 1-31-40, may use wild turkey feathers parts in PreviousartsNext and crafts that are offered for sale and sold to the general public if the PreviousartistNext has on his person a tribal identification card demonstrating his authorization pursuant to the Indian PreviousArtsNext and Crafts Board Act. The PreviousartistNext must affix a label to the product or provide a document with the product stating the PreviousartistNext's name and 'American Indian PreviousArt - resale of this product in its unaltered original condition is lawful in South Carolina'.

(B)    This section does not authorize the sale of other parts of wild turkeys, whether taken lawfully or unlawfully, including, but not limited to, capes, beards, and fans wild turkey meat."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
