H. 4581
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE ONE OF AIKEN'S MOST DELIGHTFUL COUPLES, MR. AND MRS. JOHN GRANAGHAN, FOR THEIR MANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE AIKEN COMMUNITY AND TO WISH THEM GODSPEED AS THEY MOVE TO TEXAS.
Whereas, John and Nancy Granaghan have been an integral part of the Aiken community since they moved to Aiken in 1979 when he became plant manager of the Savannah River Plant; and
Whereas, John is a graduate of Auburn University and spent thirty-six years with the DuPont Company including his assignment as plant manager of the Savannah River Plant from 1979 until 1987; and
Whereas, unfortunately in 1987 John discovered he had Parkinson's disease which forced him to retire from Dupont with a medical disability although he and Nancy remained residents of Aiken; and
Whereas, while in Aiken they have been a great asset to their community through many civic activities, endeavors, and their varied interests, including John's love of cooking and Nancy's love for birds and gardening; and
Whereas, the Granaghans have now decided that it is advisable to move to Texas to be closer to two of their children who are physicians practicing in Texas; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly delightful couple for their contributions to Aiken and the State of South Carolina as they leave for Texas. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize one of Aiken's most delightful couples, Mr. and Mrs. John Granaghan, for their many contributions to the Aiken community and to wish them Godspeed as they move to Texas.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. John Granaghan.
