A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-1-Previous464Next SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY MUST REINSTATE THE DRIVER'S LICENSE OF A PERSON WHOSE PRIVILEGE TO DRIVE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED BECAUSE HE WAS AN UNINSURED MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER WITHIN TEN DAYS AFTER HE PROVIDES PROOF OF INSURANCE TO THE DEPARTMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-1-Previous464. The Department of Public Safety must reinstate the driver's license of a person whose privilege to drive has been suspended because he is an uninsured motor vehicle driver within ten days after he provides proof of insurance to the department."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
