A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. E. BLAIR RICE, JR., OF BELTON FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS PRESIDENT OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA TEXTILE MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION FOR 1991-92.

Whereas, in May of this year, Mr. E. Blair Rice, Jr., of Belton completed his 1991-92 term as president of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association; and

Whereas, under his leadership the Textile Manufacturers Association played a key role in many state and national concerns important not only to the textile industry but to business and industry as a whole; and

Whereas, Mr. Rice is chairman of Blair Mills, L.P., in Belton, South Carolina, and began his career there in November, 1971; and

Whereas, he is a widely respected business executive who has been active in a number of professional organizations and endeavors including the board of directors for the Textile Hall Corporation, chairman of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Workers' Compensation Task Force, and a member of the United States Business and Industrial Council Executive Committee; and

Whereas, he has also given unselfishly of his time and talents in many varied political and community activities. He is a member of the State Development Board, a trustee of the Children's Trust Fund of South Carolina and the Sirrine Foundation, and was a significant voice for better state government as a member of the South Carolina Government Reorganization Task Force; and

Whereas, the professional service given to his company and the public service given to his community and State by this outstanding South Carolinian serves as an example for all young business executives to follow and the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend him for his truly distinguished service as president of the Textile Manufacturers Association upon the conclusion of his term of office. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mr. E. Blair Rice, Jr., of Belton for his outstanding service as president of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association for 1991-92.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Rice.
