AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR MAGISTERIAL DISTRICTS IN CHESTER COUNTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Chester County magisterial districts
Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, beginning January 1, 1980, there shall be four magistrates in Chester County one of whom shall reside in the following magisterial districts: first district, comprised of Chester, Blackstock and Hazelwood townships; second district, comprised of Lewisville and Landsford townships; third district, comprised of Baton Rouge and Hallsellville townships; fourth district, comprised of Rossville township, including Great Falls.
Surety bonds required
Section 2. Each magistrate in Chester County shall be required to furnish a surety bond in the following amounts: first district, one thousand dollars; second, third and fourth districts, five hundred dollars, payable to the county and in the form required by law for all peace officers and such as shall receive the approval of the county attorney for form and the governing body of the county for sufficiency. The premium on such bonds shall be paid by the governing body of the county out of funds appropriated therefor or the miscellaneous contingent fund and no magistrate shall receive any compensation or be considered duly qualified to hold such office until such bond has been furnished and filed with the clerk of court for the county.
Constables
Section 3. There shall be constables in Chester County as follows:
One for the first district, comprised of Chester, Blackstock and Hazelwood townships; one for the second district, comprised of Lewisville and Landsford townships; one for the third district, comprised of Baton Rouge and Hallsellville townships; one for the fourth district, comprised of the Rossville township, including Great Falls.
Time effective
Section 4. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
