AN ACT TO REAUTHORIZE THE EXISTENCE OF THE BOARD OF REGISTRATION FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE AND TO AMEND ACT 698 OF 1976, RELATING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS FOR REGISTRATION AS PROFESSIONAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS, SO AS TO DELETE REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO GOOD MORAL CHARACTER, UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP AND AGE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Board of Registration for Landscape Architecture reauthorized

Section 1. The South Carolina Land Resources Conservation Commission shall continue to serve as the board of registration for landscape architects beyond June 30, 1980, which is the date such regulation would terminate under the provisions of Section 6 of Act 608 of 1978. Such continuation shall be in accord with the provisions of Section 7 of such act and shall continue in effect through June 30, 1984, unless otherwise terminated by subsequent action of the General Assembly.

Requirements for registration

Section 2. Section 11 of Act 698 of 1976 is amended by striking items (2) and (3) and by renumbering item (4) as item (2). The section as amended shall read:

"Section 11. To be eligible for registration as a professional landscape architect in South Carolina an applicant:

(1) Must satisfactorily pass an examination as prescribed by the board, except as otherwise provided in Section 12 of this act.

(2) Must be either a graduate of an accredited landscape architecture curriculum approved by the board or a graduate of an accredited high school or have had education equivalent thereto as determined by the board, and, in addition, at least five years of varied landscape architectual experience under the supervision of a landscape architect registered under this act or other qualified person approved by the board."

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
