AN ACT TO REDUCE THE TERMS OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2 IN RICHLAND COUNTY FROM SIX TO FOUR YEARS AND TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD TO SEVEN.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Terms
Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, there shall be seven members of the board of trustees of School District No. 2 in Richland County who shall serve for terms of four years and until their successors are elected and qualify except that in the general election of 1982 the terms of the two members added to the board by this act and the successor to the member of the board of trustees whose term expires in 1982 shall be determined as follows:
The two candidates receiving the highest plurality of votes shall be elected to serve four-year terms and until their successors are elected and qualify and the candidate receiving the third highest plurality of votes shall be elected to serve a term of two years and until his successor is elected and qualifies. All present members of the board of trustees of Richland County School District No. 2 shall continue to serve until the expiration of their terms and until their successors are elected for four-year terms and qualify.Time effective
Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
