AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 228 OF 1957, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE ST. ANDREWS'S PARISH PARKS AND PLAYGROUNDS COMMISSION, SO AS TO ADD TWO MEMBERS TO THE COMMISSION AND PROVIDE FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF OFFICE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Composition of Commission

Section 1. Section 2 of Act 228 of 1957 is amended to read:

"Section 2. The Commission shall be composed of six members. Five of the members shall reside in St. Andrew's Parish and shall be appointed by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the members of the Charleston County Legislative Delegation. The sixth member of the Commission shall be the head football coach of the St. Andrew's High School who shall be a member of the Commission, ex officio. The appointed members of the Commission shall serve for terms of three years each and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the Commission shall be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term. The members shall elect one of their number as chairman and one of their number as secretary.

The three present appointed members of the Commission shall continue to serve until their current terms of office expire; provided, however, that nothing herein contained shall be construed as prohibiting their reappointment. Of the two additional appointed members of the Commission provided for herein, one shall be appointed for an initial term of two years and one shall be appointed for an initial term of three years, the length of such initial terms to be designated by the Governor when making the appointments.

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
