AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL TAXES IN YORK COUNTY FOR THE YEAR 1982.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Levy of millage for school purposes in York County

Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in York County for the year 1982 only, the auditor shall levy and the treasurer shall collect a tax of thirty-one and one-half mills for school purposes to be distributed to all school districts in the county in proportion to the ratio which each school district's one hundred thirty-five day enrollment (average daily membership) bears to the one hundred thirty-five day enrollment (average daily membership) in the county; provided, however, that enrollment in parochial schools or other nonpublic schools shall not be counted for the above purposes and such schools shall not be allowed the use of the proceeds of the taxes imposed by this act.

Revenues

Section 2. All revenues collected pursuant to this act or because of a tax levy imposed for school purposes by any school district shall be paid over to the school districts in the manner and under the ratio set forth above and notwithstanding any other local law provision to the contrary, no collection rate of such taxes shall be guaranteed to any school district and such districts shall only be entitled to receive such tax revenue as is collected pursuant to this act.

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
