AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-9-110 SO AS TO PERMIT COUNTY POLITICAL PARTY COMMITTEES TO ESTABLISH A COUNTY PARTY ELECTION COMMISSION TO PERFORM THE FUNCTION OF CONDUCTING THE PRIMARIES OF THE PARTY IN THE COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

County party election commission

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 7-9-110. The county committee may by majority vote establish a county party election commission to consist of not less than five members nor more than nine members who shall be appointed by the county committee to conduct the primaries of the party in the county. Such commissioners when appointed shall hold office until ninety days prior to the next general or special primary election (runoffs following a primary shall not be considered another general or special primary).

The county party election commission has all the rights and powers of the county committee to conduct the primary election in accordance with the provisions of this title and in accordance with the party rules not in conflict with any provision of law except that the county party election commission may not perform thoseduties and responsibilities regarding protests and contests as provided in Sections 7-17-520 through 7-17-590."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
