AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 930 OF 1970, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR KERSHAW COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT THE MEMBERS SHALL RECEIVE FOR ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS FROM TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS TO SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS AND TO PROVIDE THAT THE CHAIRMAN RECEIVE FIFTY DOLLARS AND EACH MEMBER OF THE BOARD TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS A MONTH FOR EXPENSES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Meetings of board
SECTION 1. Section 5 of Act 930 of 1970, as last amended by Act 272 of 1979, is further amended to read:
"Section 5. The Kershaw County Board of Trustees shall meet on the second Tuesday of each year at ten a.m. and elect one of its members chairman for a term of one year and another as vice chairman for a like period.
The board shall hold regular meetings at least once each month, and any special meeting it considers necessary; all meetings are open to the public unless the board by a majority vote considers it necessary to meet in executive session for such meeting or any part thereof. Six members shall constitute a quorum at all meetings.
Members of the board shall receive seventy-five dollars for their attendance at each meeting plus mileage as provided by law for members of boards, commissions, and committees for travel expenses to be paid from the general Kershaw County school funds. The chairman shall receive fifty dollars and each member of the board twenty-five dollars a month for expenses."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
