AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 38-31-100, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO GROUP LIFE INSURANCE COVERAGE OF FAMILIES OF EMPLOYEES AND MEMBERS, SO AS TO SET A DEFINITE LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF DEPENDENT LIFE INSURANCE THAT CAN BE AFFORDED BY A GROUP.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Limit on amount of dependent life insurance

SECTION 1. Section 38-31-100 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 732 of 1976, is further amended by adding:

"(3) The amounts of insurance must be based upon some plan precluding individual selection either by the employees or members or by the policyholder, employer, or union and shall not exceed, with respect to any spouse or child, five thousand dollars."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
