AN ACT TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF ST. ANDREWS (CONSTITUENT) SCHOOL DISTRICT NUMBER 10 IN CHARLESTON COUNTY FROM THREE TO FIVE, TO PROVIDE FOR THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT OF THE ADDITIONAL MEMBERS AND FOR THE SUBSEQUENT ELECTION OF THEIR SUCCESSORS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR TERMS, MANNER OF ELECTION, QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS, AND AREA OF REPRESENTATION FOR THE SUCCESSORS OF THE ADDITIONAL MEMBERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Board of Trustees of St. Andrews School District Number 10 SECTION 1. In addition to the three members of the Board of Trustees of St. Andrews (Constituent) School District Number 10 in Charleston County, two members must be appointed as trustees of the school district by a majority of the Charleston County Legislative Delegation, both at large from the territorial area comprising the school district. One of the two additional members shall serve until his successor is elected in the general election of 1986 and qualifies for office, and the other shall serve until his successor is elected in the general election of 1988 and qualifies for office. All successors to the two additional members of the board of trustees of the school district shall serve for terms of four years, with terms commencing on the first day of January following election and ending on the thirty-first day of December, and until their successors are elected and qualify. All successors to the two additional members of the board of trustees of the school district must be elected in the same manner and under the same terms, and shall also meet the same qualifications and requirements for election and for holding office, as provided by law for the other trustees of the school district and must be elected at large from the territorial area comprising the district.

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
