AN ACT TO RATIFY AND ENACT INTO LAW A CERTAIN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CALHOUN COUNTY COUNCIL WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1983-84 FOR THE OPERATION OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN CALHOUN COUNTY AND FOR THE OTHER AUTHORIZED PURPOSES SPECIFIED IN THE ORDINANCE.
Whereas, because of the mandatory sine die adjournment of the 1983 session of the General Assembly, the bill providing for the levy of taxes for fiscal year 1983-84 for the operation of the public schools in Calhoun County and for other authorized purposes was not enacted into law; and
Whereas, pursuant to the opinion of the South Carolina Attorney General, the Calhoun County Council by Ordinance 83-2 filed October 4, 1983, at 2:17 p.m. has provided for the levy of taxes for fiscal year 1983-84 for these purposes; and
Whereas, to ratify the above action of the Calhoun County Council, the General Assembly has determined to enact this bill and provide by statute that this ordinance so passed is the statutory tax levy for these purposes in the county for fiscal year 1983-84. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
School tax levy
SECTION 1. Calhoun County Ordinance 83-2 filed by the County Council on October 4, 1983, at 2:17 p.m. is hereby ratified by the General Assembly and declared to be the lawful levy of taxes for fiscal year 1983-84 for the operation of the public schools in the school district of Calhoun County and for the other purposes specified in the ordinance.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
